The authors specifically focus on three emerging technologies that have the potential to create more flexible conditions in the field, and identify the need to further explore the link between uncertainty, information and irreversibility. As a theory on violent democracies, the theory of violent pluralism is silent on the gendered realities of this violence as it plays out in Latin America. The article proposes to unpack this concept as a three-pronged relationship between political organising and gendered violence: political organising as a response to gendered violence, gendered violence as an obstacle to organising and finally, political organising as a cause of further gender-based violence.

Ultimately, the article is also an attempt to articulate a more general critique of the concept of violent pluralism — its conception of democracy, its possible erasure of the efforts of non-violent actors and how it calibrates the scope and intensity of political violence. The article identifies and unpacks the shifting composite of attention and dis-attention to male vulnerability and intersectionality residing at the heart of the gendered and racialised logic of screening and targeting. The article ends by discussing possible methodological turns for developing a more conscious techno-legal feminism.

Fabulous family holiday - Review of El Sueno, Vejer de la Frontera, Spain - TripAdvisor

The paper provides a brief account of the history of wristbands and similar, and offers an inventory of prototyped products. The paper then unpacks the contemporary making of humanitarian wearables at the interface of global health, population control and security agendas. Taking Sandvik, Lindskov Jacobsen and McDonald framework of humanitarian experimentation as the point of departure, the paper identifies and explores a set of ethical questions relating to the digitization of beneficiary bodies in aid.

The management of digital identities after death is becoming a significant governance challenge for the global technology sector, with the appearance of thousands of ghost-accounts every day. Historically, effective, safe and dignified dead-body management DBM in the context of disasters and wars has been an important task for the humanitarian sector. This paper begins to articulate and unpack digital dead body management DDBM as an emergent challenge for the humanitarian sector. The Humanitarian Studies Colloquium is a quarterly forum for scholarly discussion of methodological and thematic issues in the emergent field of humanitarian studies, taking place at PRIO.

The disciplinary focuses of past colloquiums included history, the sociology of law, and anthropology. The disciplinary focuses of the first and second colloquiums were historical and socio-legal. Chapter 2. Humanitarians in court: how duty of care travelled from human resources to legal liability. Paul: Yes, it changes all the time…and for the most part for the better. You meet people that 20 years ago would stand outside your apartment building, day in and day out, 7 days a week… Now they have a family with kids or whatever. From your own experience would you say that Hobo is a realistic character?

And if you met someone like that what would you tell him? Paul: Yes, absolutely. I am like that. I can latch onto people for their energy or inspiration to get me going. And it works a lot of the times too. Anything to get a song out. You are said to be an admirer of the American writer John Fante. Both are struggling, stubborn and desparate characters.

What do you think about this? Paul: I thought I could become a writer when I was 20 or so, but I know better now. Only with writing music and sometimes lyrics do I get these moments where it all seems so easy, as if no work is involved. We spent 7 nights at El Sueno in March in a two bedroom cottage, Mimosa. The cottage was very well equipped for all self catering requirements, the beds were really comfortable and the owners were really good at providing everything we needed for our 2 year old.

The property of El Sueno is really lovely, big enough to have privacy between the different villas and small enough to be able to see other people now and again. The playground was an excellent addition to the property and the pool was in good condition even though it was out of season. There was a lot of rain at the beginning of our week's stay and the villa was cosy enough to stay inside with the log fire but when the sun shone it was also a lovely place to be.

The village of El Soto has a little restaurant within walking distance of El Sueno which is good for families with small children. The property is also within a really short driving distance of some amazing unspoilt beaches, some of which have swimming conditions suitable for small children.

There are also interesting historical sites to visit, and bustling villages Vejer and cities Cadiz to go to for a bit more culture. I hope we can go back to el Sueno in the near future - it is a great place for families, or groups of friends, or couples. The owners are extremely helpful and are also doing a wonderful job of running the property along sustainable principles.

I would definitely recommend! We didn't, so it suited us just fine. A bit windy, a bit rain a bit sun; a lovely climate-cocktail. Nice and tidy. Easy to come in contact with the staff if anything needed to be fixed. We became particularly fond of the cats and dogs visiting our porch.

One of the dogs even recognised our rental car when we drove through the village and didn't let us drive on before we had said hello to him.

We also enjoyed the goats wandering to and from their work on the village's main road. A city-person may find that very exotic. A couple of surprises during our stay were the almost daily power outages. Some might find that irritating, some charming. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review which is most appreciated - we always enjoy welcoming guests during the milder Winter months, as there is still so much on offer in this lovely corner of Spain. The electricity lines in our rural area were being upgraded during this quieter period which will bring benefits for the entire community, resulting in some short power cuts during the work for which we were not forewarned — although woodburning stoves with firewood and gas hobs offer a choice of heating and cooking options for all eventualities.

Therefore, we are so pleased that you not only enjoyed your time with us, but also stayed an extra four nights after the initial one week booking too. Thank you!
